Lost Soul God

My master is a god in the heavens. They have a magic mirror that can reflect their own soul. Every day, they would speak to themselves in front of the mirror. But one day, my master discovered that they could no longer see their soul in the mirror. They became panicked and restless, staring blankly at the mirror every day. As the god dog who accompanies my master, I took on the mission of finding their soul to prevent them from being upset.

I arrived in the human world and found that it had changed drastically. Previously, there were no plants or animals, only bare rocks, gravel, rivers, and oceans. It was desolate and lifeless. But now, everything was thriving and flourishing. Countless plants and animals appeared, and most amazingly, there were humans. They resembled my master in appearance and had a certain level of intelligence. However, unlike my master, they could die and had a limited lifespan. They were divided into two genders and could reproduce... I seemed to sense the presence of my master's soul in all living things here. So, I immersed myself in each plant and animal, transforming into a human, in order to uncover the truth. I experienced what they experienced and contemplated what they contemplated, including studying the culture and technology created by humans. In all of this, I saw a faint light emanating from the souls of humans, reminiscent of my long-lost master's soul. However, I have yet to find the complete soul that my master lost. The most likely speculation is that my master's enemy stole their soul, shattered it into pieces, ground it into powder, and scattered it into the human world, causing all living things to flourish.

My master no longer looks into the mirror often. They often sit in the tower, lost in thought, gazing down at the human world or holding the books I brought back from the human world, silently flipping through them. The books my master reads the most are those written by humans about finding oneself and self-awareness. They often cry while reading, saying that they can no longer remember the appearance of their own soul, only a vague outline and impression.

I comfort my master, saying that humans have invented the internet and are currently developing brain-computer interface technology. Once successful, it may be possible to connect the consciousness of all humans together, allowing the scattered fragments of my master's soul to reunite as a whole. However, my master still remains vacant and silent after hearing this. I worry that they may be mentally affected by the loss of their soul, and their intelligence may not even be on par with some adults. So, I try to comfort them again, saying that the mirror can only reflect what is in the heavens and cannot see what is on the earth... my master's soul is not in the heavens anymore... the human world is actually another mirror for my master...

After a while, my master murmurs, "Who am I exactly? Am I the one in the mirror from before? Or am I the multitude of beings in this human world? Or perhaps, there is no 'me' at all?"
