When you like someone, there are three choices:
-
Interact and engage with them.
-
Work on yourself to change their feelings towards you.
-
Keep your feelings to yourself and avoid interacting with them.
When you are dissatisfied with the external environment, there are three choices:
-
Find a way to change the environment.
-
Change your own mindset to adapt to the environment.
-
Neither change the environment nor change your own mindset, as it is said in Jin Yong's novels, "Let him be strong, the gentle breeze brushes the mountain; let him be arrogant, the bright moon shines on the river."
Whenever there is a conflict between your inner self and the outside world, there are these three solutions:
-
Change the external world.
-
Change your inner self.
-
Make no changes and let it be.
Confucianism changes the external world, Buddhism changes the inner self, and Taoism makes no changes.
